Welcome to Hangouts (the "App," "Platform," "we," "us," or "our"), a Quebec-based social meetup application designed exclusively for CEGEP students and post-secondary learners. Hangouts connects students through shared interests and activities, facilitating the discovery and organization of social gatherings, group activities, and meaningful connections within the student community.
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Hangouts mobile application and all related services. By creating an account or using Hangouts, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately discontinue use of the Platform and may not create an account.
2. ELIGIBILITY AND ACCOUNT REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Age and Educational Requirements
Hangouts is exclusively available to:
Current CEGEP students
University students
Post-secondary learners enrolled in recognized educational institutions
2.2 Account Verification
To maintain the integrity of our student community, all users must:
Provide a valid school email address for verification
Complete the account verification process
Maintain accurate and current profile information
2.3 Account Responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
All activities that occur under your account
Immediately notifying us of any unauthorized account access
3. PLATFORM FEATURES AND USAGE
3.1 Profile Creation
Users may create personalized profiles containing:
Profile photos and images
Personal biography and interests
Response prompts and answers
Educational and contact information
3.2 Hangout Discovery and Participation
The Platform enables users to:
Browse and discover hangout opportunities posted by other users
Express interest in hangouts through the "like" feature
View detailed profiles of hangout organizers
Send messages to join specific hangouts
Filter hangouts by type and organizer demographics
3.3 Social Features
Hangouts provides various social interaction tools:
Group chat functionality for event coordination
Direct messaging between users
Friend connections and networking
Photo sharing within messages and hangouts
Attendance tracking for organized events
3.4 Content Upload and Sharing
Users may upload and share:
Personal photographs from their device gallery
Predefined hangout images provided by the Platform
Text-based content and messages
Event-related media and documentation
4. COMMUNITY GUIDELINES AND CONTENT MODERATION
4.1 Content Standards
All user-generated content must comply with our community standards. The following content is strictly prohibited:
Nudity, sexually explicit, or suggestive material
Hate speech, discriminatory language, or harassment
Threatening, violent, or intimidating communications
Spam, promotional content, or commercial solicitations
False, misleading, or deceptive information
Content that violates applicable laws or regulations
4.2 Moderation Process
Hangouts employs both automated systems and human review to monitor content. We reserve the right to:
Remove any content that violates these Terms
Suspend or terminate accounts for policy violations
Report illegal activities to appropriate authorities
Implement additional safety measures as deemed necessary
4.3 User Reporting
Users are encouraged to report inappropriate content or behavior through the Platform's reporting mechanisms. All reports are reviewed promptly and appropriate action is taken.
5. DATA COLLECTION AND PRIVACY

To provide our services, Hangouts collects:
School email addresses for verification purposes
Profile photographs and uploaded images
Messages and communications sent through the Platform
Usage data and interaction patterns
Device and technical information necessary for app functionality
5.2 Data Usage
Collected information is used exclusively to:
Facilitate connections between users
Ensure Platform security and safety
Improve user experience and app functionality
Comply with legal obligations
5.3 Privacy Protection

6. USER CONDUCT AND RESPONSIBILITIES
6.1 Acceptable Use
Users agree to:
Use the Platform respectfully and courteously
Provide accurate and truthful information

Report suspicious or inappropriate behavior
6.2 Prohibited Activities
Users must not:

6.3 Off-Platform Interactions
Users acknowledge that Hangouts facilitates introductions but does not supervise or control in-person meetings or activities. Users participate in offline gatherings entirely at their own risk and discretion.
7. DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
7.1 Platform Availability
While we strive to maintain consistent service, Hangouts makes no guarantee regarding:
Uninterrupted Platform availability
Error-free operation
Compatibility with all devices or operating systems
Preservation of all user data
7.2 User Interactions and Meetups
Hangouts explicitly disclaims responsibility for:
The conduct, safety, or actions of Platform users
Events, meetups, or gatherings organized through the Platform
Any harm, injury, or damages resulting from user interactions
The accuracy or reliability of user-provided information
7.3 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Quebec and Canadian law, Hangouts' liability is limited to the amount paid by the user for Platform access (currently zero, as the Platform is provided free of charge).
8. ACCOUNT TERMINATION
8.1 Voluntary Termination
Users may delete their accounts at any time through the Platform settings. Upon account deletion:
Profile information will be removed from public view
Stored messages and data will be deleted according to our data retention policies
Access to Platform features will be immediately revoked
8.2 Involuntary Termination
Hangouts reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:
Violate these Terms or community guidelines
Engage in fraudulent or deceptive behavior
Pose a risk to Platform security or user safety
Remain inactive for extended periods
9. MODIFICATIONS TO TERMS
Hangouts may modify these Terms at any time to reflect changes in:
Platform features and functionality
Legal requirements and regulations
Community standards and safety measures
Users will be notified of material changes through the Platform or via registered email addresses. Continued use of Hangouts following such notifications constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
10. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
These Terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and Canada. Any disputes arising from these Terms or Platform usage shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of Quebec, Canada.
Users consent to the jurisdiction of Quebec courts for all legal matters related to Hangouts usage.
11. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
11.1 Platform Rights
Hangouts retains all rights, title, and interest in:
The Platform's design, code, and functionality
Hangouts branding, trademarks, and logos
Proprietary algorithms and features
11.2 User Content
Users retain ownership of their uploaded content but grant Hangouts a limited license to display, distribute, and use such content solely for Platform operation and improvement.
